Entry Level Certificate in ESOL International (Entry 2) (Classic A2)
The entry-level Certificate in ESOL International (Classic A2) is for candidates who are able to comprehend sentences and frequently used expressions which allow the parties to exchange basic information and communication about routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on common matters.
ESOL International (Classic) qualifications test the speaking, listening, reading and writing skills of Candidates whose first language is not English.
At this level, Candidates are expected to read and understand short texts with repeated language patterns on these familiar topics, reading and obtaining information from common signs and symbols.
Also, matters with regards to areas of relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, hobbies, leisure activities, local geography, health, education and services, weather, transport, employment) should also be easily communicated by the learner.
The candidate wanting to attempt this course is required to have a basic speaking knowledge of the English language and he/she should be able to describe in simple terms, aspects of his/her background and immediate environment.
The course is also apt for learners who attend an English language course either in the UK or overseas are learning English as part of their school or college curriculum.
ASSESSMENT
A candidate’s competency (based on the qualification they opt for) is assessed based on four skills: Reading, Speaking, Listening, Writing or in two of those skills; speaking and writing.
The aim of these qualifications is to demonstrate a Candidate’s ability to communicate using the English language across CEFR levels A1 to B1. At this level, learners should recognize and use a wider range of phonics. They should also be able to distinguish letter patterns common in English, silent letters, Prefixes and suffixes etc.
Can a section of the exam be taken from home/office?
The examination is completed under the supervision of an Invigilator, under controlled examination conditions. The Examination may be conducted with one or multiple Candidates at the same time.
Are the Centres equipped with adequate access for disabled people?
All Centres are mandated to have premises that have suitable access, in line with Disability Discrimination and Diversity & Equality law and regulations and any other local laws and regulations which apply.

On the successful completion of the examination, when can I expect to receive my certificate?
In the UK, standard examination results and certificates are issued within 10 working days of the receipt of a full and correct submission of the examination materials. In case of Emergency examinations conducted in the UK, results are issued within 3 working days of the receipt of a full and correct submission of the examination materials.
